Hamilton Elks #93 Make Big Impact For Local Vets
Hamilton Elks Lodge #93 were host to many Veterans at the Cincinnati VA Hospital. They passed out snack bags, vouchers, and had a rousing game of volleyball with all the Veterans. Most important was the $1,600 worth of sweat shirts, shoes, socks and other needed supplies donated by the Hamilton Elks.

Athens Elks #973 Helps Local Veterans
The Athens Elks Lodge #973 presented $1,000 in gift cards to Veterans Affairs Administration Clinic of Athens, Ohio. These gift cards will be used to help the needy and financially eligible Veterans who come to the Veterans Affairs Clinic for assistance. The money to purchase the gift cards was made possible by a National Elks Foundation Gratitude Grant. The gift cards purchased were to local businesses in the area.

Newark Elks Fundraises For CP In An "Egg-citing" Way.
Newark Elks Lodge #391 prepares a monthly Rise & Shine Breakfast, as just one of their Cerebral Palsy fundraisers! The breakfasts’ feature a different item each month along with Bartender Michelle’s famous Bloody Mary Bar. This fundraiser has been well received and a great way to include all members.

Freemont Elks #169 Uses Beacon Grant To Help Local Community
A partnership between the Fremont Elks Lodge #169, Link/Interact Club of Fremont Ross High School, and Wynn-Reeth Inc. made a lasting affect within the Fremont community. On four different occasions Elk’s members, Link/Interact teens and Wynn-Reeth individuals with developmental disabilities gathered for lunch and to make tie-blankets.
A partnership between the Fremont Elks Lodge #169, Link/Interact Club of Fremont Ross High School, and Wynn-Reeth Inc. made a lasting affect within the Fremont community. On four different occasions Elk’s members, Link/Interact teens and Wynn-Reeth individuals with developmental disabilities gathered for lunch and to make tie-blankets.
In all, 40 tie-blankets were made in all and put in to cinch drawstring backpack which had all three organization logos printed on each. Backpacks with blankets were given to Fremont City Schools Elementary social workers to distribute to students who suffer from trauma to give security and comfort.
This project brought these three organizations together for the first time to create lasting friendships and focus on giving encouragement to others while making a huge difference.
Funding for this program was made possible by an Elks National Foundation Beacon Grant.
Van Wert Elks #1197 Helps Local Mentoring Program
Van Wert Elks Lodge #1197 recently donated $50 to the MAV Youth Mentoring Program, previously the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. The monies will be used to sponsor a child for their 29th All Star Bowling Fundraiser. This event will be held at the Olympic Lanes in Van Wert on Friday, March 29th.

Portsmouth Elks #154 Keeps Local Firefighters Safe
Using an Anniversary Grant from the Elks National Foundation, the Portsmouth Elks Lodge #154 Leading Knight, Jerry Easter was pleased to present a $1,500 check to the Valley Township Volunteer Fire Department. The money will be used to purchase safety vests for fire personnel.

The Grand Lodge Fraternal Committee has just released the results of the two website contests for 2018-19 with the Ohio Elks Association website earning the highest rating of 5-stars along with Kenton Lodge #157 winning top ranking of 5-stars at the local lodge level. Ohio Nearly Repeats At Regional Soccer Shoot Finals!
The Ohio Elks nearly repeated as Regional Soccer Shoot Champions this year with a great group of kids competing in Frederick, MD in early March, but just came up short against our Pennsylvania neighbors. The kids and families had a great time in Maryland and we would like to thank all of the lodges, schools, kids, and families that participated this year.

Ravenna Lodge #1076 Helps Families Keep Kids Safe in Cars
Ravenna Elks Lodge #1076 recently held their annual Car Seat Inspection in collaboration with the Portage County Health District. With Beacon Grant Funds the Lodge purchases car seats for income qualifying families and the certified health educators from the Health District instruct proper installation. A special Thank You to Rootstown Fire Department for hosting the event.

The Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107 held its annual Elks National Foundation (ENF) fundraiser in conjunction with an Italian Night Dinner Party and Dance. As in the past, over 260 people attended the event that included live and silent auctions. ENF Chairperson, Rick VanGundy, and his crew, were able to rise over $14,500 for the Elks National Foundation.

Van Wert Elks Helps 15 Kids Attend Local 4-H Camp
Van Wert Elks Lodge #1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks recently made a donation to the Van Wert County 4-H Council in the amount of $1,500.00. The monies were distributed as fifteen $100.00 camper scholarships to assist fifteen local 4-H members to be able to attend the annual 4-H Camp at Camp Palmer, July 5-9, 2019.

The funds were made available from an Anniversary Grant the lodge received from the Elks National Foundation. These grants were made available to all Elks Lodges again this year since the Order of Elks celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2018. The Elks National Foundation is a perpetual trust fund established in 1928 by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Contributions to the Foundation are made each year by close to one million Elks and their families and friends from more than 2000 Elks Lodges across the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.
Van Wert Lodge is proud to be able to assist these young people so they could attend camp this year.

Fremont Lodge #169 Stands Up For CP!
The Fremont Elks Lodge #169 held a Nationalities Dinner. This included Polish, German, and Hungarian specialty foods. Our Elk members and guests gathered and enjoyed the hot-n-ready food prepared by our ER Mike, new members, and volunteers and raised$235 for CP!

Knowing it was going to be a good crowd at the BPOE we decided to play some stand-up bingo in which half of the proceeds would be donated to Cerebral Palsy, the Ohio Elks Association Major Project. PSP Dan gave a short explanation of the Elk program and with everyone very receptive to the cause we raised $210.
Yes, we STOOD UP FOR CP. We shared our idea with State President Nevin so he visited our Lodge a few days later and added another $25. Raising the total to $235, however donations are still coming in. This is what the Elks are all about - Elk Care Elks Share!

Defiance Elks Purse Raffle Turns Into 1,000 Socks of Light to Local Veterans!
Defiance Elks Lodge #147 held their 1st purse reverse raffle Saturday the 23rd. Which was a huge success! In addition to the cost of the ticket we asked each lady to bring in a pair of socks for the Veterans as well a a toiletry item for chance at a purse. After the event I counted how many pair of socks were donated from the 250 people that attended. We collected over 1,000 pair of socks. Our committee was amazed at the generosity!!

Hoop Shoot State Champions Announced!
The results of 2019 State Hoop Shoot held in Gahanna, Ohio are in! The 36 participants were all District winners from over 22,000 competitors from the State of Ohio. The State Champions will now compete in the Great Lakes Regional that will be held in Angola, Indiana the weekend of March 15-17 against the State Champions of Indiana and Michigan.
