TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE OHIO ELKS ASSOCIATION:

For the past five years, with the approval of our state sponsor Past Grand Exalted Ruler Jim Nichelson, the For Ohio’s Grand (F.O.G) committee has conducted a pin-sale campaign to promote and be in support of Past State President Douglas A. Schiefer becoming Ohio’s next Grand Exalted Ruler. The support from the districts, lodges and individual members has been excellent.  Now Doug has been endorsed, by the Past Grand Exalted Rulers, to become the Grand Exalted Ruler at the Grand Lodge Convention in Austin, Texas this coming July, to serve as Grand Exalted Ruler for the 2024-2025 year.

It is now time for all Ohio Elks to step up our game as we now announce the beginning of the major fund-raising project for our endorsed candidate, for Grand Exalted Ruler, Doug Schiefer.  He, along with his wife, Julia, will proudly represent Ohio and will wonderfully serve the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks well.  This fund-raising effort is the sale of Doug’s special pin (and/or pendant) and will be conducted nation-wide (see picture of pin above).  The pin (or pendant) costs $100.00 each or you may purchase any combination of two (2 pins, 2 pendants or 1 pin and 1 pendant) for $150.00.  We hope many of you will purchase these in support of Doug.  For anyone who will be attending the Grand Lodge Convention, purchase of a pin or pendant will also entitle you to admission to a special Monday evening reception for Doug and Julia.  The pins and pendants will be available for purchase at 1) the Elks Leadership College in Newark on February 23 and 24 and at the Ohio Elks Association Annual Convention in Columbus on April 26 – 28.  Let’s all get behind this project!

In addition, we ask that all Districts and Lodges thoughtfully consider making individual contributions and do so generously and/or hold a fund-raising activity.  Of course, personal contributions will gratefully be accepted, as well.

Cash or checks will be accepted for the pins and donations.  Checks should be made out of “Ohio Elks Association – F.O.G.”  with the notation of “OEA  G.E.R.  Fund.”  If you have any questions about this, please contact me.

One last point.  If anyone desires to purchase the complete 5 pin set of the pins which the F.O.G. Committee has been selling for the past five years, such maybe obtained and will likewise be available at the Annual Convention for $50.00 for the set.  Individual pins from the series will also be available, as long as the supply lasts, if you are missing any to complete your set.  The cost is $10.00 each for any of the first 4 and $20.00 for the 5th one.  Cash or separate checks for these will be appreciated.
