Van Wert Elks #1197 Supports Local Youth Program

Van Wert Elks Lodge #1197 recently made a donation of $500 to the First United Methodist Church. The monies are earmarked towards their 5th Quarter Program. The monies are from a Promise Grant the lodge received from the Elks National Foundation. These grants are made available to the Elks Lodges to provide drug and alcohol free events for the children.

The 5th Quarter Program is geared for middle school and high school students after all the home football games. The middle school students gather at the YMCA and the high school students gather at the Goedde Building. Games are provided for the students as well as pizza and a beverage. The students are provided with a safe place to meet with their friends in an alcohol and drug free environment. Volunteers are on hand to assist with the games and chaperone the students.

Van Wert Lodge is proud to be able to support this important program for the youth of our community.
