Founded in 1802, Newark's rich history is rooted in business and industry. Rich in resources such as silica, iron, oil and glass brought many to Newark to establish companies such as Holophane, Heisey Glass and Owens Corning Fiberglass. Many early companies continue to offer employment to our residents. Longaberger, makers of American baskets and other products for the home from 1973-2018, boast the world's largest basket building in Newark. The basket-shaped building which served as the headquarters for the now-defunct Longaberger Company, is on the eastern edge of the city,

Newark, Licking County's seat of government, stands proud with its classic courthouse and preserved Midwestern architecture. The town square offers unique shopping from small family run businesses that go back generations.

The courthouse was built in 1876 and is regarded as one of the finest Second Empire-style courthouses in Ohio. Newark is located about 30 miles to the East of Columbus. It is the home of the Newark Campus of the Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College.

Lodge Meetings
Regular lodge meetings are held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, except in July and August when they are held only on the 3rd Tuesday and December when they are held on the 1st Tuesday. Lodge meetings begin at 7:00 PM and are open to all Elks in good standing.

Board of Governors & Trustees Meetings
Board meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM.
